Vernazza, Italy (Cinque Terre)
1.5" Thick Gallery-Wrapped Canvas: This picture was taken from the trail between Monterossa and Vernazza in Cinque Terre, Italy. We were impressed with the color, absolutely breathtaking location along the Ligurian Sea, laundry hung from windows, divers swimming along the rocks, and tourists eating in quaint outside cafes. The quote we are reminded of when looking at this picture is: "Beauty is the gift of God" Aristotle

Tuscany Flower Pots
This picture was taken in Pienza, a small, quaint, pedestrian town located south of Siena and Florence. Rick Steve's calls it: "a small hill town packing a lot of Renaissance Punch!" Pienza was my favorite, with pedestrian only streets, peccorino cheese, an unbeatable view of Tuscany from a winding, stone terrace. Heaven!

Corniglia Pedestrian Street
You need to climb 400 steps to reach Corniglia, the only Cinque Terre Village not located right on the sea. Legend has it that Corniglia (pronounced: "Cornelia") was named after the mother of a Roman Farmer.

Manarola Town

Manarola
This restaurant-strewn lane was just off the trail from Rio Maggiore (Main St). We stopped here to have lunch (Trattoria II Porticciolo), met other Rick Steve's fans, and had a free glass of dessert wine: sciacchetra....... bring his book with you!!

Pecorino Cheese: Pienza, Italy
Pienza is famous for Pecorino Cheese (Sheep Cheese)! You can get it fresh or aged... (aged, being my preference..... wonder if it has anything to do with my advancing age.......... hmmmmmmmm.......). Little did I know that you could get the cheese in Trader Joe's! This picture reminds me of all the little shops and pedestrian streets.

Pienza Floral View, Tuscany, Italy
Rick Steve's describes Pienza as "packing a lot of Renaissance Punch!" Set on a crest, surrounded by green rolling hills, 15th century town named after Pope Pius II. This, along with Volterra, were two of my most favorite Tuscan towns.

Pienza Terrace
Pienza was one of our most favorite stops in our two week journey in Italy. Pienza is full of renaissance architecture, cozy, flower-strewn, cobblestone lanes; ceramics, and cypress tree views of the Tuscan countryside and Monte Amiata-- the largest mountain in southern Tuscany. Ravello Ceramics
Ravello sits atop a lofty perch 1,000 feet above the sea... it has boasted residents such as Gore Vidal, Richard Wagner, D.H. Lawrence, Greta Garbo, and William Longfellow. Scattered throughout the Amalfi Coast are beautiful ceramics.... we succumbed but only to small plates and corks for wine or olive oil....... when you're carrying your load, small and light seems to be the name of the game......
